Ayushman Card, also known as Ayushman Bharat Card. It was launched in 2018. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the government of India started the Pradhan Mantri Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) under the Ayushman Card. This is a scheme for the people to get free medical treatment in government and some private hospitals. Already fifty crores of Indians hold Ayushman Cards and use them for free-of-cost treatment. It is an insurance-based healthcare scheme which provides cashless access to healthcare services up to Rs 5 lakh per family in a year by the government. It is acceptable in government hospitals, public or private, anywhere in the country. With the Ayushman Card, under the PMJAY Scheme, you can walk into a hospital and enjoy cashless treatment. Ayushman Card provides health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per year to each family. It covers a wide range of medical expenses like hospitalization, surgeries, diagnosis as well as treatment.
One who has an Ayushman Card is eligible for cashless treatment at any government-specified hospital across India. You are not required to submit any payment to the hospital. It gives seamless access to any healthcare services. Just remember, it is not eligible for all the hospitals. Check the government-specified hospital first in your area.
The Ayushman Card is a family card. This scheme covers all members of a family as per the Socio-Economic Caste Census(SECC) Database.
The Ayushman Card is portable to all states and union territories, around India. You can continue your free treatment if you travel from one place to another.
There is no age restriction. Under the Ayushman Card, everyone will get free treatment from children to old.
